Ta-Kari Tamaskans, Colorado, USA

                                                      ** TAKEIA**

TAKEIA:   Takeia (pronounced Ta-ki'-yais out of the first registered Tamaskan litter born in the US.  She fits the breed standard set by the TBA for Aatu Tamaskan females, and displays the perfect "wolf" mask.  She is one of the foundation dogs for expansion of the Aatu Tamaskan in the US.  She was the only female Tamaskan puppy born out of J&J Kennels two litters (June 2007 & June 2008) and sold to breeding homes to date that passed her hip testing.  I am grateful for her being healthy, and I attribute a part of that to raw feeding.  In fact, other than a little cold in May 2008, I've not had any health issues with her.

Height to shoulder:                 25"                                          Weight:  67lbs.

She has been one of the best things I've ever done in life.  She's so much fun, and makes me laugh every day.  She's so full of personality and so smart, and absolutely beautiful to say the least.  She loves everyone and everything, and craves human touch and affection.  Having had her from the time she could leave her litter has really allowed us to bond (she's my shadow).

TEMPERAMENT/PERSONALITYTakeia: Takeia has always been my "energizer bunny".  She absolutely loves people, animals, (basically anything that breathes) and going for rides in the car.  She has always been my "greeter" and gregarious one. She has calmed down tremendously as she's gotten older.  I wouldn't trade her for anything.  She loves to play and is very willing to please, but does show her stubborn side when she doesn't want to do something (nothing major).  She has always been the more submissive type with other dogs and just wants to love everone/everything and be loved in return.  She is EXTREMELY smart (which is a breed trait).  She was always my destructive one too (wood, magazines, trim).  She always hated the crate, though now she sleeps in it whenever she is tired and at night.   She's just always excited when we go anywhere and loves to be out.  She is not a barker; only barks at other dogs to play (or when she sees them on the road) or at the vacuum extension.  She is a talker though at times.  And she is definitely not a guard dog, though she does have protective instincts.  She has growled 3 different times, but not at anyone specific; just in situation.  She loves to have her companion, Dakari, around and is much happier with a canine friend to keep her company.

Takeia is VERY smart, and I would not trade her for anything!!!  She is my Number One girl!!!  She loves to get in the car and go somewhere.  She knows the words GO, RIDE, PARK, HOME ...  the day she can spell, I am really in trouble!!!  she travels very well, never sits down and is always looking out every window. She loves it!!!

Below are a bunch of pics.  But for many more,  please visit my PhotoBucket page http://s345.photobucket.com/albums/p389/ takaritamaskans/Takeia/ (It's much easier to upload there, and I can put a ton!)

Takeia has gold (not yellow) colored eyes with an amber circle arond them, but in pictures they look yellow. Her mother has the yellow eyes, so she should carry the gene for her offspring to have the amber/gold/yellow eyes.

I knew how smart she was from the first night I picked her up.  When I brought her back to my parents' house, she didn't go potty on her puppy pad, but sought out the green welcome mat that looked like grass (smart girl!).  She also learned to stay off the carpet and on the tiled area only within just a day or so.  Her potty and house training was relatively easy, with a few expected accidents, some of which I take responsibility for.  She's trained to go potty almost on command, and her at-home set up is a 10x10 sandbox (easier to clean up).  Needless to say, too, after a 30 hour drive home from NJ to Colorado, she was pretty easily car-broke.  Now, she absolutely loves to go "for a ride" and be in the car, knowing she's going somewhere.  She gets so excited, she almost does a little dance (it's so cute!), and if she could speak, I'm sure she'd say "hurry up!".

She's not a barker (thank goodness!!!!) and not extremely verbal, but when she "talks", it's precious!  She hates the heat and is not a sun bather.  She seeks out the shade and cool.  But, I've heard of others that love the sun, so I guess it depends on the dog.  She still sleeps a lot in her crate, with the door open.  (She's never liked being locked in since I got her, but she's much better now.)

I have her on a raw diet (chicken, beef, bones, veggies, fruit, etc.).  She's adjusted well.  (I tell ya, both my dog and horse both eat better than me.  Heck, Takeia  has her own refrigerator!) [Can someone say "spoiled"!]

(above 2 and below 1, April 2008)

She is so beautiful (why argue with everyone else's opinions ....... hahaha).  I love her to death!!!  But, she does need a companion, and we are looking anxiously and excitedly to getting Dakari.

 Below pics added 11/22/08

She loves her squeaky toy, but she's all snookered out now!

She's got about 10 bones in her yard ... this is just one!

"I didn't do it ... I promise!"

(Maybe if I don't move, you won't see me.)
