Thank you for your interest in the beautiful Tamaskan dog.  My goal in creating this website is more than just to show who we are and introduce our dogs and puppies.  It is my aim to help eduate would-be purchasers on what to look for and what to stay away from when searching for your puppy.  The Tamaskan is too precious an animal for anyone to have to fall victim to those whose only goal is to fill "demand" by attempting to pass off a cross-breed as a Tamaskan, thereby hurting the integrity of the breed and those seeking the real thing.  I believe an educated buyer makes the best buyer.  So, I hope this helps ... HAPPY READING!!

Ta-Kari Tamaskans is a registered breeder with the Tamaskan Dog Register (www.tamaskan-dog.com), the official registering body for all Tamaskans worldwide.  I am also serving as the Vice President of The National Tamaskan Club of America (www.tamaskan-dog.us) and am very excited about what we are implementing, where we are heading, and the future of the Tamaskan in the US.  If you are looking to purchase a Tamaskan, please do so only through a registered breeder listed at either of the above two sites.  If the person you are purchasing from is not listed, you will not be getting a pure Tamaskan or one accepted by the TDR.  Remember ... proceed with caution if you want the real thing!

As a wolf advocate, my dream has always been to own a wolf.  However, understanding how unfair it would be to try to "domesticate" such an animal, especially in a continued environment of ignorance about wolves (that's why there are so many sanctuaries and killings of wolves - don't get me started!), I set out on a search to find something comparable, a dog with the look of a wolf, without the wolf content.  I like big dogs, not the yip-yap lap dogs.  So, the Arctic breeds (Husky, Malamute, etc.) were the obvious choices.  But, their independence is something that made me nervous (I see so many winding up in shelters).  Finally, in spring 2007, while searching another breed, I came across the Tamaskan, and it was, as they say, "love at first sight".

Timing is also everything.  And, with perfect timing, I was able to fly back to NJ to visit family, and drive to NY to pick up my girl, Takeia, out of the very first US litter, in very early August 2007.  Takeia will be one of the foundation dogs used in the continued promotion of the Tamaskan breed in the US.  We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of her mate, Dakari, sometime during the late fall of 2008.  (Stay tuned!)

Please visit and feel free to sign our guest book, but email any inquiries to ta_karitamaskans@yahoo.com .  (Thank you for the nice comments!!!)
